How do you know if the meter is utility / remote read / manual?
There are many types and makes of meters on the market, installed in properties and found in Mestro Portal. Our system is hardware agnostic, which means that we can collect data from virtually all kinds of meters. Below I'll briefly describe the categories of meters found in Mestro Portal with links to more in-depth information.
Meters in the portal
Utility meter: is a meter for which utility companies can send automatically measured usage data via an export. Almost all electricity meters are automatic meters.
Remote reading meter: Remote reading measuring systems with M-Bus gateway or control systems with energy logging go under Remote reading. There are a number of different suppliers and brands that offer the possibility of automated export of measured values from main and sub-meters.
Manual meters: Meters that are not read digitally are called manual meters. These meters need to be read manually and measurement values or meter readings need to be registered manually in Mestro. This usually applies to water meters, but sometimes also to district heating meters.
Virtual meter: If you want to create a meter based on other physical meters, you create a so-called virtual meter, in other words, a fictitious / simulated calculation meter. This meter can be created based on e.g. adds or subtracts two or more meters with each other.
