Did you know you can monitor your energy in Mestro depending on the area of use? Here we describe a couple of ways to simplify your monitoring.
Divide by tagging
Make your portfolio more comparable and the energy more representative of the property by differentiating operational usage from property management usage-.To use this function update, you must have tagged the meter (Edit >> Meter settings)
The different tags
As of now we have five meter tags in Mestro Portal to help you categorize the area of usage.
- Entire property
- The operation of the building
- Outdoor lighting and other things in addition to the operation of the building.
- Operations
- Household
The tags will then affect the reports in Mestro Portal and help separate energy usage depending on your report settings.
- Entire property - If the meter in question services both property energy and business/household energy, you can tag it with "Entire Property". It would then be best to have sub-metering or a standard calculation via virtual meters to obtain and be able to tag "The operation of the building".
NOTE! The tag "Entire property" cannot be filtered through the report settings in the Portal.
The toggle for “Property” in the reports is affected by and includes the following tags:
- The operation of the building - If the meter services the operation of the building, also called the “property management energy”, you tag the meter with "The operation of the building". It simply means that the meter stands for building operations, such as elevators, lighting, etc.
- Outdoor lighting and other things in addition to the operation of the building - If the meter services outdoor lighting or other energy that is not part of the building's direct operation, tag the meter with "Outdoor lighting and other things in addition to the building's operation".If you do not wish for it to be summed up together with meters tagged “The operation of the building", set the meter level to a lower level (i.e submeter or other)
The toggle for “Operations” in the reports are affected by and includes the following tags:
- Operations - If the meter measures the property's operational energy, it can be tagged with "Operation".
- Household - If the meter measures the property's tenant energy, in this case household energy, it can be tagged as “Household”.
So take the opportunity to add the tags! Because suddenly you will have this option in your report settings and it becomes super clear in the graphs what is what. If you do not have specific meters for the business/property energy, you can suggest putting up a virtual meter, which sums up all your sub-meters or subtracts it from a main facility.
Aggregation
When you choose to toggle “Property” or “Operations” in the report settings, the meters that are at the highest level with the respective tag are aggregated.
Example:
You have 1 main electricity meter and 10 electricity sub-meters on a property where all meters are tagged as “The operation of the building”. When you then choose to toggle in “Property in the report settings, only the main meter is aggregated. If, on the other hand, you do not have a tag on the main meter, the meters that are tagged on the next level (sub-meter then tenant meter) will be aggregated.
NOTE! If you have either "Property" or "Operation" toggled in your settings without having tagged any meters, you will not be able to see any usage at all. Therefore, make sure to click out of these fields.
Division by Building component
If you have divided up parts of your property in so-called building components, your energy monitoring for each respective area (i.e. offices, charging stations, storage facility) will also become clearer. You can then use our reports for the respective components to see trends and pull out key figures without comparing apples to oranges.
